QA Test Engineer

This position is for a QA Test Engineer who will lead the functional verification and validation of EMMA and our mobile robotic products.  EMMA, our advanced A.I. navigation system is capable of operating existing equipment fully autonomously in complex indoor environments.  This is a hands-on role in a test lab and manufacturing environment.  This position will be responsible to verify the product hardware and software quality, supporting product development and manufacturing.
 

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will design, develop, and oversee the execution of test protocols for functional verification and validation for EMMA, including:

  • Design and implement a Verification and Validation plan.
  • Estimate testing effort and develop an optimal test strategy (manual vs automation).
  • Perform testing or provide supervision of technicians to complete testing.
  • Effectively execute, monitor and troubleshoot prototype and mfg builds as necessary.
  • Write documentation for test protocols, results and reports.  
  • Insure traceability from requirements/specifications to verification.
  • Track defects and work with software and cross-functional teams to debug.
  • Analyze and communicate test results.
  • Perform reliability analysis.
  • Ensure compliance of applicable agency product and safety standards (IEC, UL, ETL, CE, ANSI, ISO, SIL, etc…).
  • Represent and position the company as an industry leader at standards and certification agency meetings and working groups related to mobile collaborative robotics.
  • Ensure proper a safe test methodology.
  • Identify, request, and order testing equipment.

Required Experience

  • Experience with configuration management, defect tracking, test plans, test protocols, and test execution.
  • Experience writing and understanding technical specifications.
  • Experience with complex embedded systems/robotics and experience with Linux.
  • Experience with continuous integration frameworks, test automation systems and test case management systems.
  • Experience with standard professional test lab equipment and processes.
  • Experience with quality analysis and process tools (FMEA, 8D, 5-Why, etc.).
  • Strong hands-on mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with various IEC, UL, ISO, CE, and ANSI standards.

Additional Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of EMI and EMC measurement and mitigation techniques.
  • Experience setting up and operating data acquisition systems.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP manufacturing systems.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodology.
  • Experience in mobile robotics or industrial automation.

Requirements

  • BS/MS degree in computer science, SE, EE or ME
  • 3+ years of professional experience as a test engineer with experience testing both software AND hardware.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and documentation skills.
  • SW programming background.
  • Current U.S. work authorization.

Travel

  • Limited domestic travel will be required (<10% of the time).
