Senior Systems Administrator

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for provisioning, configuration of on-premise computer systems, cloud services, and IT solutions. This role has a strong emphasis on systems security for both cloud and on-premise systems, IDS/IPS/DLP/SIEM, security policy documentation and enforcement. The senior systems administrator will perform research, design solutions and execute on technical implementations. Responsibilities include partnering with the business to define service level requirements. Solutions are designed to scale with automated/scripted workflows/processes.

Task & Responsibilities

  • Design and execute technical implementation of:
    • Single Sign-On (SSO) platforms. SAML 2.0 and cloud providers. Azure AD Premium, Okta, Jumpcloud, OneLogin, 2FA (Yubikey)
    • Client Management and Mobile device management (MDM) platforms. Intune, AirWatch, Jamf, SCCM, etc.
    • Enterprise directory and collaboration platforms. Google Suite, Slack, Azure AD, Office 365
    • Backup systems/services. Veeam, NetBackup, Azure Backups
  • Manage DNS, DHCP and user/systems certificates
  • Manage cloud platforms, directory services, collaboration platforms, intranet, etc.
  • Manage synchronization tools and single-sign on systems
  • Manage patch management of systems/services and other core infrastructure
  • Author and maintain system and services documentation
  • Enforce and manage security policies/documentation for Internal IT, Engineering, and the general user population; Manage security training programs
  • Define a strategy for log management and event correlation; implement SIEM tools
  • Manage perimeter and endpoint security including data loss prevention (DLP), Cisco/Meraki/Palo Alto, Crowdstrike etc.
  • Ensure all systems remain complaint as per regulatory requirements
  • Second line support escalation path for the client services team


What you need

  • B.S. in Information Technology, relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of industry experience; 5+ years of experience at a Senior/Lead level
  • 2-5 years of technical experience with AWS or Azure or other cloud services
  • Demonstrated experience completing the Tasks and Responsibilities of this role

  • MS Degree in Information Technology or other relevant field
  • Industry recognized certifications (AWS, Azure, O365, VMware, etc.)
  • Cisco/Meraki switching and routing experience
  • Experience in a fast-growing start up

This position is located in our San Diego headquarters and reports to Sr. Director, IT.
